my HP laptop on XP has crashed! how to get it back

  eddie james 11:01 03 May 2008

I have an HP laptop. I tried to partition the disk using partition magic and now it has crashed! I get the screen to start in safe mode/last known good config/start normally but none of these work. I get the windows startup xp screen for 1 second and then it reboots back to the same page. My recovery programme is on the computer itself!! are there any programmes that I can download on my other computer to remedy this? Th recovery cd from HP is only available in the states and I am in UK..... Please help if you can
Cheers Eddie

Sorry eddie, missed your post at the weekend. Is this XP Home or Pro and do you know anyone who has an original XP disc that corresponds? If so you could do a Repair Install (NOT Repair Console) but I`ll link to that later.

It would be a good idea to back up your data. To do this you need to remove the HDD and put it in a caddy, then access it from another computer. Post back again, I`ll keep my eye out for it this time.
