For some reason a file on my hdd went missing. So ive had to install windows again, so ive bought a new hdd and installed windows. Ive connected my old hdd to get some files off it before i wipe it. But i cant get into My documents, i think this is because i had a password for my log in. Is there anyway of gaining access into it?

Cheers, One problem. How do you disable simple file sharing?

Now its says that an error occurred because access was denied.

Any ideas?

try making a folder in my docs on new hdd. Then right click on my docs in explorer on old hdd and copy. Then right click on the folder in your new my docs and copy. If this works you should be able to look at the files in the new folder.

I tried what you said howard64 and it said the same thing.

It doesnt matter anymore. ive sorted the problem out. For some reason my new hdd realised that they old hdd had something wrong with it. So it tried fixing it. Anyway it fixed it just enough, just so i could log in and copy my files :D Although it wasnt repaired properly as most of the programs wouldnt work.

Cheers for the help though.
