My contacts receiving 'private message' emails

  brambles 19:35 21 Jul 2012

I have had emails from four of the contacts in my email address book today. They all appear to have received an email from me with just ''private message' can't understand what is happening because a full Macaffee scan indicates there are no viruses etc.

I had the identical message myself again from another of my contacts. A relative who received one is Sky was alerted it was infectious but the strange thing is that there is nothing to click on to open the email.

Any ideas?

Thank you Brambles

What email service do you use?

If there's nothing to click on and open the email, then that can rule out a number of things.

Does the emails have your full details, or something similar?.

Are you running any spyware programs, other than McAfee?.

Thank you all for taking the trouble t o respond.

I have no Spyware only whatever protection McAfffee gives me.

The person I received the original email from has apologised today. Her father had been poorly and when I received a personal message from her I assumed it was confidential. I actually attempted to open it in Hotmail - all I got was a redirect to someone offering a free iPad in a competition.

I'm just hoping there won't be another batch of nonsense going to my contacts.

Thanks for your interest.
