'my computer ' problem

Hi guys

I have a problem trying to get into 'my computer', if i click on the short cut on my desk top or even from the start menu, it just wont open and says 'not responding'

It opens up the window, but it just appears blank and then just will not respond.

Any help appreciated

What OS?, if it's XP try a system file check.
Start/Run/ type sfc /scannow. You will need your XP Disc

hi there, it is xp yes, i dont have a disc though

Has it always been like that? If not, and you are running XP, have you tried a system restore? If you're running Win98/Win98SE you could try booting in MS-DOS mode, at the prompt type scanreg/restore and then go back to the last known "good" boot.

its just happened tonight for some reason, i will try a restore and see what happens.

You may have a folder on your drive \i386 (could e under c:\ or c:\windows) you can point the system file checker to this folder.

sfc /scannow problems
