Music clips on Dreamweaver

I use Dreamweaver 8 and want to put a short music clip on a page. I have followed the instructions on Help via behaviours etc but it doesn't work for me. Is there a straightforward way of doing this? I can produce MP3 but am told midi is better. Any advice on that score (sorry about the pun!)?

I know nothing about Dreamweaver; I use Front Page, and its simple with that programme. I am sure a Dreamweaver enthusiast will tell you.

In the mean time you need something like this in your code in the head at the start of the page:

<title>My music page</title>
<bgsound src="music.mid"
.mid" loop="-1">

(Where your midi file is called music.mid). Ensure that the midi file is in the same directory as the rest of the page.

Mp3 files are certainly better quality, but usually a very large and take ages to download. In contrast midi files are very small. You can find hundreds of midi files on the web.

The quality of them varies, but some a really good.

Have a listen; its only 37kb.

I have made a test web page to show you it action:

Have a look at the source code.

Many thanks - that's very helpful. Since I'm wanting to use our own recording, I may have to stay with mp3 since midi seems to lose some quality.

The coding is helpful - thanks again.
