Had an issue with Isass.exe, couldn't fix it, so I decided to reinstall XP.

I have the original OS XP copy that came with the PC,and its back up,and my own which I used.

Both disc's produced the same error when copy the OS files to the HDD.....msvbvm50.dll was not copied.

The HDD was formatted during the install, but the message still appears.

Any ideas please..

XP can be a little bit niggly on installation, especially if they are older discs.

Try it with nothing connected but the one Hard Drive and a CD drive.

If the discs are from the really early batches they can kick it out if you try to use a DVD drive even though it is obviously reading the disc.

Tried different discs in the original optical drive and in my new drive, still it states that files can not be copied.....

Decided to install a 9 year old DVD ROM drive, guess what, XP loaded.Makes no sense..

Thanks for the help
