hi, i am trying to install a prog so that I can have different wallpaper on dual monitors, found the prog to do it, but is has to have MS.net framework 2.0,, when trying to install it, it is no go, the error message is C:\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ADVPACK.DLL

I have used search and it lists two of them, I have also downloaded it, but do not know where to shove it.

anyone any ideas.
Thanks

You will need to remove the current dll'd from your system 32 folder or rename them before replacing with the new dll.

Im not sure here but scannow replaces broken or corrupt system dll files,so maybe its worth running this first.

Start / run and type

sfc /scannow
And enter.

If this just flashes across your screen, run scannow from a command prompt.

Start / run and type cmd and enter.
Then type sfc /scannow and enter.

Note the space between c and /

Typo,sorry.
Should read;

" You will need to remove the current dll's "

If the os is not preinstalled, you may need your windows disc.

advpack.dll is a required system file,so scannow should fix this issue for you.

Hi, I ran sfc and still it will not run the framework prog.

what will happen if i just delete the two entries, will the new one find the right place to go.

thanks

No it wont, you have to place the new dll in the system32 folder, basically where you would have removed the current one from.

Just an idea, check what versions of .NET Framework are installed.

Remove them all and reinstall starting from version 1.1

Or check for the possible corrupt dll by going to My Computer / double click your c:\ drive (assuming this is the drive with the os) / Windows / system32 folder.
Here you can delete the current dll that is causing problems, though firstly try renaming this before deletion and have the new dll saved to somewhere where you can find it easily...(desktop for example)
Then put the new dll in the place where you have renamed the old dll.

For example rename to advpack.old
