MSN and Google mail

  JeffDH 11:01 28 Apr 2008

Yesterday my friend opened an email in his hotmail mail account, that seemed to be from him, spam.
It wiped out his contacts in his hotmail and messenger.
He warned me it could have been sent on to me. It was in my google account, but didn't affect anything???

Is this just something aimed at MSN account users?

We scanned his computer and all seems clear, and he can recover his contacts from the sent folder!
I have advised him to move to Yahoo or Google mail

Thanks for any advice

Moving over to Google or Yahoo will probably not make any difference. If somebody wishes to send a virus/trojan that eradicates your contacts, it can be done on virtually all email systems.

Using a good virus checker and a background trojan/adware checker, such as Haute Secure, should help prevent this problem.
