MSI Live Monitor

MSI(Micro-Star International)are the manufactures of my main Board which is a Intel 915P motherboard. As i was searching around for various bits of info i found the Live update Online monitor, i ran this and it came back with 11 VGA Drivers for the VGA Card and 8 MSI Utilities. I must admit when i saw these i didn't know what to do-Should i download these updates? or leave well enough alone

You have 2 choices. Either leave it alone or download the most recent ones. There might well be 11 VGA drivers since yours was installed but thats over a period of time, the latest dated one will be the most up to date, you can ignore all the others.
Its up to you.

irp ,I tend to use this facility when updating a MSI motherboard's Bios.

However, one is quickly shot down in this forum when the above is mentioned.

Oooo leave it!!

riiverstock most people on this Forum are amateurs. As I'm sure you know if you mess up upgrading the BIOS you can make your motherboard unusable. And the usual reason to upgrade a BIOS is to support new processors. Because of this it is in my opinion inadvisable to tell people to upgrade their BIOS unless it has to be done to support a new processor.
The reason you get shot down if you mention upgrading the BIOS is that if you are not putting in a new processor theres no benefit and you have no idea of the knowledge of the people you are speaking to. If they don't know what they are doing and they get it wrong they can end up with a very large paperweight.
I have upgraded the BIOS a few times on various PCs and have never had a problem but only when absolutly necessary, doing it just for the sake of it is to me rather daft considering the risks.

There is more chance of one's computer being banged by the porn channel than any Bios update.

By the way the MSI does it all for you.
One simply has download the Bios update program and run it from within Windows. No floppies required.

But I'm sure you are already very knowledgeable on this subject

Thank you both for your comments. I think as everything is working fine i will leave things alone. Until i decide at some point maybe to upgrade my processor, Then i will ask some more, how to questions.

Thanks Again
