MSI GeForce GT 740 2Gb GDDR5 and 300w PSU?

  blueblob 10:09 02 Jan 2015

I was wondering if anyone would be able to advise me on buying a MSI GeForce GT 740 2gb GDDR5 graphics card. I currently have a 300w PSU in my HP pavilion PC with the following specification: +3.3V 12A, +5.08V 13A, +12Va 12A, +12Vb 16A, -12V 0.3A, +5.08Vsb 2A.

It says it currently uses 262W, but if I stopped using the integrated graphics would this go down, allowing me to use the 60w GT 740?

Or is it too much of a risk possibly going over the 300W limit and is worth buying a new PSU?

Thankyou for you help!!

No chance.

See click here is the same product in essence and they say a minimum of 400W power supply
