I use msconfig in Windows XP - but is there a similar function in Windows ME and Windows 2000?

It's not in w2k but you can get it here click here

I may be barking up the wrong thingy, but you can use the tools in CrapCleaner to determine what loads at startup.

Um, good point.

But how do you then use CCleaner to disable processes as you can in msconfig?

can't remember exactly as I'm at work atm. I think under tools theres a startup tab, and you just choose to delete things from it. Not sure if you can get them back again using Ccleaner though.

Thanks for the useful link.

You're certainly right about the Tools/Startup option in CCleaner.

OK, thanks for all your help.
