I have a virus or trojan called msa.exe on my system. Avg free has not detected it and spybot will not run for some reason (says i don't have permission to access it). anyone know how to fix this?

Your chances may be a bit slim at being able to download any security programs.
If you cannot download malwarebytes try.Dr web cure-it.If it will not let you update it run it in safe mode as it is.

Download this MBAM {but already renamed}

click here

Install MBAM {rabbits foot.exe and update it,

Then do a quick scan,

If it will not run after the install then do this,

Go to the MBAM program folder here
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware {double click the folder}

rename mbam.exe to rabbits foot.exe
double click on rabbits foot.exe to start MBAM.
scan.. remove detected items...once clear you can rename the executable file back to mbam.exe

Unzip the download first

I downloadad both versions and tried to run the programs but they stopped running a few seconds after they began. I tried to rename the exe to rabbits foot/exe but I was denied access. :((

SAFE MODE

Reboot into SAFE MODE

1/Click Start and then click Turn Off Computer.
2/In the Turn Off Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.
3/As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8 repeatedly.
4/Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
5/If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.
Note: If Windows launches before you can choose a safe mode, restart your computer and try again
PS/ Sometimes it maybe the F5 key
