MS Word Document Scrap ?

Helo all,
I have created a new folder in my documents called "customer addresses".
I then copy and paste the address from an invoice and a file is created by the computer called "Document Scrap (address then included) and then the option, scrap object"
the file icons don`t look like normal ones either, can anyone explain this?
I can cut & paste the address back into Word OK but don`t understand the strange filenames.

Thank you VoG,
Your link clarifies things very well but by naming something as
"Scrap" implies to me that it`s destination should be the recycle bin.
Do we have other file names like "A load of old rubbish"
or "Sh*t file" :-)
