ms updates - help?

It has struck me that I no longer seem to get automatic notification of microsoft updates becoming available (a box to click used to quite regularly appear at the bottom of my screen).
Have I inadvertently closed something?
Apologies if this is a simpleton's question, but it takes all kinds....etc!!
I run AVG & zone alarm, so am not unprotected.
Maybe Bill is just not speaking to me anymore??

What Operating system are you using? You have to set the system to search for updates and then notify you. Perhaps you`ve switched it off.

i assume you use XP then

you may be up to date, but heres how to set to auto update

Right click "My Computer", select properties and then click on the "Automatic Updates" Tab. Now see if it has been disabled, if it has then re-enable

Thanks Taff& madboy33,(yes, I am XP home)
I have checked and the settings are to 'keep my computer up to date' and 'notify me before downloading'.
Maybe I am up to date - just seems like more than a couple of months since I got any reminders.
Ah well, will assume things are OK.
Thanks again.
