MS Update query

I have recently had to reinstall XP Home (SP1). I tried to install SP2 on top of the basic
XP reinstallation but (as on previous occasions) it completely crashes the system. Having
reinstalled all software I am now at the stage of trying to reconnect to MS updates. Is
there any way of me accessing any updates without the damned pop-up reminder that since
October 2006 SP1 will not be supported?
Any help or advice gratefully received.

I would be very uncomfortable about not being able to run SP2. Rather than stop the reminder, perhaps we can help you sort out your SP2 problem. Have you any reports indocating what may be at fault? What hardware (mobo, graphics and sound card) and are the drivers up-to-date? You may find the following helpful

or simlpe type <SP2 caused Windows to crash> inmto your favoutire search engine.
