MS Office XP "Requesting Virus Scan"

  Adventurer 11:36 04 Oct 2004

I have the following installed on my PC

Windows XP (including SP2 Upgrade)
MS Office XP
Norton System Works 2002
- have opted to protect system against viruses using Norton Antivirus (updated at least weekly), instead of antivirus option in the SP2 Upgrade.
MS Excel Addins

Each time I open a stored .doc or .xls file to edit it, a message appears at the left hand bottom of the screen "Requesting virus scan", which considerably slows-up file opening.

How can I stop the system "Requesting virus scan"?

like office is damaged. Go into the Add/Remove programmes of Control panel and select remove Office.

You will then hopefully be given a option to Repair the office. You will also need your Office Disks.

Office when being checked is macro Virus scanning.

Within the options for norton, you can tell it to scan (or not) ms office documents - something about enabling the office plug in, I believe.
