MS-DOS problem.

Excuse my ignorance but when I try to initiate a command in MS-DOS the whole screen goes black and I have to reboot. I think I must have done someting as when I try to open the window the whole screen goes completely black and I have to reboot.

It worked previously but I think I altered some setting or other.

How to get the correct MS-DOS window back?

Many thanks.

? a little more information. Are you booting to the Dos command prompt or are you using the command prompt from within windows if so which windows version and what are you trying to do.

What operating system are you using?

Pressing ALT+ENTER will toggle the Command Prompt window between its usual window and the entire screen. Just press ALT+ENTER again to get out of the full screen mode.

Many thanks for your replies.

I'm using XP and accessing MS-DOS from within Windows, but I managed to open the command window and from the task bar at the top managed to alter the settings.

The window now opens in the correct size.

Cheers again and a Happy New Year to one and all.

Whole Full Window Black Screen.

Try the old terminate commands

CTRL-C, CTRL-Z, CTRL-Esc then CTRL-Alt-Del then Reboot I am afraid
