I was looking at the Microsoft Antispyware news groups section and found a fix for the current update problem. You have to shutdown MSAS, then go into windows explorer and navigate to c:\windows\sys32 and locate file gc uncompress and check to see if the file size is 127kb (130.272b). If it is select delete. Go to control panel add and remove programs, select MSAS and click change. click next, then click install. When the reinstall finishes click finish. In explorer in folder c:\windows\sys32\ check that gc uncompress is now 95,448 bytes long by right clicking it and selecting properties. If it is launch MSAS, pull down file menu and check for updates. This time it will really update definitions. So far it has worked. I am keeping fingers crossed though. J.B.
