May I ask the reason for doing this?

This one is small, free & should be easy to use click here.

If you want somethng with more functionality try the free Audacity click here. I use Audacity, as well as, an excellent shareware application dBpowerAMP Music Converter (dMC), which is fully functional for 30-days. I've a paid-for version which costs just £8-9. G

dMC click here.

For Audacity you'll also need the free MP3 encoder click here. G

the reason i ask this is ive just brought my son a mp3 player and it says it can hold 30 mp3s or 60 wva files so i thought if i could change them it will hold more

You seem to have this back to front. Compared to MP3 files, .wav files are huge

At the same quality an mp3 file is very approx. one third the size of a wav file so if the limitation is on total memory size there is something wrong with the 30 and 60 files

I think gidster means WMA - which would be about right. G
