mozilla installing extensions and plug-ins problem

  hermione_uk2002 22:09 28 Feb 2006

I have the latest version of firefox and wanted to install some plugins for it. I happily downloaded them and save them on my hard drive. however, when i try to install them, a message from mozilla pops up and says i am unable to install software for mozilla and i need to change my options. However, there is nothing on the Tools, options bit to alter - even after following the mozilla help.

Any suggestions?

Be aware some extension are not yet compatible with Firefox 1.5

If you have installed them on your hard drive you should be able to open the extensions window then drag and drop the XPI file into it which will install it.

Type "about:config", without the quotes, in the address bar. Scroll down to "xpinstall.enabled". If the setting is False double click it to change it to True.
