Mozilla Firefox installs plugins twice

I have just switched over from using IE to Mozilla Firefox and have come across a problem where I want to open video or audio files on the web and its tells me i don't have the required plugin. So it then asks to install the plugin being Real Player or Windows Media Player which i already have installed on my computer but doesn't seem to pick them up.

Your help would be appreciated.

That would be because the plugins were installed before Firefox, thus have not integrated with it. I suspect.

I have the same prob.
What is the best/only course of action please?

go to add/remove and take out all 3 then re-install firefox, then the other 2

Yep, as above I would think.

I have found firefox really troublesome latley for this same reason I have stuck to Opera it dont seem to have so many problems as IE or firefox, might just be me though!

IE and Firefox need their own versions of most plug-ins. For example, you need an IE Flash and a Firefox Flash.
