Moving messages from Outlook to Windows Live Mail

  tallboy 21:17 18 Dec 2009

I have an XP laptop on loan which uses Outlook as its e-mail client. I now have a new Windows 7 Desktop on which I'm using Windows Live Mail as the e-mail client. I'd like to transfer the Outlook messages to Windows Live Mail. However, whilst WLM will accept messages in Outlook Express format, it doesn't appear to accept them in any of the formats that Outlook can generate.

What is the best way of making the transfer? (If need be I could transfer the messages via Outlook Express on another PC if Outlook can be made to export to a format that Outlook Express can accept.)

Yes, as you said in your 2nd paragraph.

First, use Outlook Express (OE) to import the messages from Outlook.

Then use WLM to import them from OE. G

Thanks for your prompt replies Fruit Bat & Crossbow7. I think my best option will be to go via OE6.

OE6 lists Outlook as one of the import types, but it doesn't say what file type it is expecting. Outlook lists various options. (Comma separated, Excel, etc.) Is the best option to use .pst ?
