I have just spent ages putting my Document & Files in order side by side, the document that relates to the file, only to find out when I open the Folder they have changed back i.e. Doc’s are back together so are the Files. I have done Auto Arrange still it happens.
Can you be more specific - Documents as in Word.doc and files as in jpg or bmp?
As a rule, the contents of any folder report in alphanumeric order. Sub-folders first and then docs or pictures (they are all treated as files) When you add to a folder they tend to arrive at the tail end of a list, but next time you pen the folder they are back in logical order.
In Explorer, in My Documents - choose View - then Arrange Icons By - and you can group them by name - which is the default (alphabetical), type (ie all the docs will be together, etc) - and size and date.
I don't understand what you mean by "the document that relates to the file" - documents are files - just like any other files.
