mouse problems after standby

I can't trace what has occurred to cause it, unless it's a Firefox upgrade, but I've started to get problems with external cordless mouse and/or touchpad mouse when coming back from standby, on my AmiloM7400 series laptop under Win XP. on some occasions no mouse is operable until I go back to standby and re-invigorate again, or at other times the touchpad works but not the external mouse. anybody had such an experience or got a clue ?

Standby will turn off all USB ports to save power. You could go to Device Manager find your mouse and go to Power Management and un-check `Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power`.

This should leave the port live even when in Standby and hopefully cure your problem.

As for the cause, I have no idea. Computers are a law unto themselves at times.
