Mouse freezes and audio noise

  sputnick 12:42 21 Jan 2005

I am having trouble with my second PC.
The mouse freezes for a few seconds intermitently.
At the same time if I am play any audio I get a sound like a motoboat for the same length of time as the mouse stops.
I have tried differrent mice and drivers and re-installed sound card drivers.
I had the same problem with the onboard sound that is why I put in a sound card.I`ve also dissable onboard sound in the bios.
As the latest mouse is USB I unpluged this but the sound is still there.
I also tried everything from this mobo into another mobo including the memory and CPU
(AMD 2100 XP )with the same problem.
Mobo is ECS K7S5a Windows XP AMD 2100XP cpu 2 sticks of memory @ 256 each.
It sounds as though at certain times the system stops to do something else.
Any help please.

I had the same on one PC.It was certainly a software prob, but I never found what,I did a clean install in the end.

Hope this helps.

This problem started after a clean install. I have tried different mice and also there own drivers. My next task is to swap a graphics card just to eliminate.
This problem occurs without playing audo, the mouse pointer stops for a few seconds.
There are no conflicts showing.
Any more suggestions please

Just in case anyone else has this problem, I have cured it.
I was the network card that caused the problem.
As the modem now uses USB it was not a problem to remove the card.
