Motherboard - I'm being fussy!!!

Hi all,

I need a bit of advice.

After looking at the cost of a AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Processor (Could only find a few, its an old chip, still talking £80) I have decided to investigate new Motherboard and CPU.

Here comes the problem.

Is there a board out there that supports AMD Dual-Core processor, that has the following.....

AGP x8 support
PCI-Express x16 support (2 of if possible for SLI at a later date)
PCI support (2 or 3)

DDR SDRAM (currently using 333MHz PC2700)

2x IDE support (I have 3 IDE hard-drives plus a DVD burner)
SATA support as well.

(Basically I want to use my existing devices, i.e.
graphics card, memory, soundcard and IDE devices but have the option to upgrade at a later date, without having to buy another motherboard yet again!!!)

I don't mind paying extra for such a board. Any ideas?

(Another possible route is to buy a board that supports the new chip but the old hardware... then buy a new board at the later date if this is cheaper to do)

hey alan,

That looks about perfect :)

Will check it out in further depth later...

(EIDE - is that just IDE)

Also not heard of the ULi chipset.... are they ok?

(Using VIA at moment, personally don't think there the best either)

Any good sites for buying this Motherboard..... ASRock 939 Dual-SATA2

My usual suppliers (local) don't seem to stock it, and don't trust Watford Electronic now after reading some stuff about them recently. don't have it either, and shopping searches just bring up out of stock everywhere.

Any ideas?

Is this the one you want?

Roy, that does not do the job.

No PCI-E x16 support (looks like a PCI-E x1 slot, which is no good for a graphics card)

Plus only 2 RAM slots, cannot do much with that!
