Motherboard choice / 32-bit vs 64-bit Requirements

I am looking to buy a new PC which I am endeavouring to future proof as far as possible. The system I'm looking at can have an Asus P5N-MX or an Asus P5N-D motherboard. One of the important differences for me is that the latter can accommodate 8Gb RAM as opposed to 4Gb. However Windows 32-bit OS can only use about 3Gb of RAM and I'm not yet ready to move over to 64-bit.

Is it likely, that in the future Microsoft will find ways of utilising more RAM with its 32-bit system or will the 8Gb only ever be of benefit with 64-bit OSs.

Also, are there any hardware components that would not work with a 64-bit OS and would have to be replaced.

I have built a system with vista 64 bit and everythig I have wanted to install has had a 64bit version. In the future 64 bit will take over although to get the full benefit you will need a next gen pc.
