Mother board choice, help needed!

  Epirb406 22:14 19 Oct 2009

Hi all, new build coming up, general use and modest video editing, Windows 7. Intel core2 duo 8400, 4 gigs RAM.. Thinking quiet and energy efficient, want to find a passivly cooled 512 Mb graphics card.

Getting done in looking for a Motherboard, see what you can pick out of this...

Asus or Asrock.
4 x Sata II
PCI Express 16x for graphics card.
Hi Def audio.
Instant boot facility.

Might as well be full ATX, why go for micro when there is no need?

Reckoning to spend around £40-00.

Any ideas good people?

Thanks, Epirb.

Hi, see you are a Gigabyte fan then!

First link seems a bit astray but some good info there.

Where do Gigabyte fit in on the prestige table? I know Asrock built their reputation on the cheaper end of the market and Asus at the top.

I also thought that I had heard that there wasn't much difference between an Asrock and an Asus these days apart from the price but it seems I may be wrong about that. Where does Gigabyte fit in.

Any more for any more?

Cheers, Epirb.

“See you are a Gigabyte fan then”

No not a Gigabyte fan but you did say, “Reckoning to spend around £40”

The Gigabyte EP31-DS3L is one of the cheapest motherboard that will handle your present and

future needs

But seeing that you want a Asus motherboard you can look at this one which will work with the

Intel core2 duo 8400 CPU
