Monitor switching off

  Ebonytiger 19:54 04 Feb 2004

I've just built a new computer and installed Windows XP - everything works fine except at odd times my monitor switches off - the screen goes black and I have to reboot the computer to get it back on. I've lowered the refresh rate and set power management so it shouldn't switch off. This can happen soon after it's switched on, later or not at all. The monitor is a Hansol 710A and my graphics card is a Gainward FX5600.

Perhaps it would be possible ot have the 'power supply' checked by an Electriction to see if the fault is this. that is if you can't do it yourself... you will need to refere to the 'spec's of the supply' and have it connected to the motherboard before any reading's can be taken, or use a dummy load...

As a rough guide, the fault tolorance needs to be in the range of (+ or -) 5% of the required volages to power the computer.
