Monitor problem

I have an Acer 22" TFT LCD monitor with native 1920*1080 resolution. I am having some problem with large areas of blue screen (all hues and shades) where I get a bit of shimmering ie the colour shows an upward or downward rippling). I've run the Acer Config and the Intel Config and these have not shown any improvement. I also tried the Auto Config button on the monitor. All the leads are connected properly. Any ideas what I can do?

You don't have any strong magnetic fields near that area of your monitor do you?

No I don't. I have a couple of small computer speakers about 1 metre away on each side. The shimmer seems more obvious when a new web page is shown and seems to settle after a few minutes of inactivity. The monitor has a built in power supply. I've tried a few cables with similar results.
