monitor go's blank on start up

a friend of mine who does not have access to the internet says about 15 secs after windows boots up his monitor gos blank anyone got any idea whats wrong appreciate help.

Could be resolution set too high.

Can he boot into safe mode / VGA mode? Press F5 at startup and choose from the menu. From there if using XP he may be able to do a system restore.

All this is fairly speculative - can you find out more info about the machine?

thats what i recommended to do ill see if it worked tomorrow, i also thought it may be a corrupt driver file.but i am only just learning so this forum helps loads.thanks.
