Monitor goes blank

  thewasp 09:51 09 Apr 2006

A couple of times lately my monitor went into standby mode while using the computer, and nothing would wake it again.

The computer seemed to be running fine but I had to reset. Then after about half an hour it did it again.

The problem seems to have gone away for the time being but would would cause it? Leads are all securely connected.

My gfx card is a new Radeon 9550.

First guess as your card is new is either it isn’t seated properly, or you have a dodgy driver install. I’d start with reinstalling the drivers.

Other ideas include you are using your new card to push your monitor beyond its limits. Right click desktop /settings / advanced / On your monitor tab tick “hide modes this monitor cannot display”.

Think it might have been bad connection on the card as it's been OK for the last few days.
