Monitor flicks when I turn amp on?

I've noticed recently that sometimes when I turn my amp on or off, my monitor will flick off for a second. It comes back on and everything is fine. I can't see how there can be a link between my soundcard and monitor.

Any ideas as to what causes this as it's really annoying?

I have a 22 inch LG monitor connected to my PC via HDMI cable. Also my M-Audio soundcard is connected to a Marantz amp and speakers via the usual red and white cables.

The Amp could be the source of a Large 'EMP' and either the cable shielding ()most likely) is poor or the Monitor Shielding is poor and this will cause the flicker you see.

If you can increase the distance between them, it should eliminate or ease the issue, otherwise switch the amp on before the monitor.

Assuming the amp is connected to the mains posibly via an extesion. I would suggest looking at plugs, plug socket and extension leads for possible faulty wiring/connections.

Thanks for the suggestions.
