I have been given a second hand laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro 4310 running windows 98.

I am assuming by there being a telephone point in the side of the computer there is a modem in the laptop. There is no mention of it on devices. I have no original cd's

I have been on Toshiba web site and can't seem to find much help.

Does anyone have any ideas how to recreate the modem?

Thanks very much

Just set up a dial-up connection in the normal way, and select the onboard modem as the one to use.

There is no modem being detected.

I have tried selecting a dial up connection and keep getting error 630.

I don't know what type of modem is supposed to be installed to seclect from the list of modems as nothing is found in add/remove hardware.

I have an old external modem which I have plugged in which I can get a connection with but ideally I would obviously prefer to get the internal modem working rather than carry an external one with me.

Any siggestions you can give me would be very much appreciated.
