I've been using AOL (, Windows Xp and my current hardware for many months. Recently, when signing-on to AOL I get the message " Communications port is busy or faulty". Looking in Device manager the modem is shown as " This device cannot start (Code 10)"

If I uninstall and reinstall modem ,all is well, till next time. I am puzzled as to why this problem shd suddenly arise as I haven't changed anything in my setup. As usual, AOL helpline is no good.

Any ideas pse?

You do not state what version of AOL you are using, If you upgrade to Version 9.0 you have the Option to check your computer and fix problems.

Cesar Thanks for the info. I did check my computer using the AOL checker as u suggested. It found and fixed a problem caused by AOL having crashed, previously.

Many thanks for yr advice.
