Mixing security systems

Have moved from dial up to bt broadbandwhich has Norton security (bt yahoo on line protection) have also loaded free versions of adaware.se, avg and avast antivirus which I have always used. But I seem to have read somewhere that you cannot mix security systems,is this so?

Scanners are OK eg the AdAware personal edition. It starts to get tricky when you try to use more than on full time protector, in fact its asking for trouble.

Use only one AV not two and have AVG anti-spy< Windows defender or adaware as well. This will be enough for any home user. You could have Spybot as a reserve but there is absuloutely no need to go OTT. You will need a lot of common sense..
