Missing NTLDR

  MIKE. 17:46 13 Dec 2006

This may seem a unuasual question. What display would be shown on a monitor screen if the power supply to the HDD was missing or the HDD was Kaput (SATA). A friend of mine asked me to look at his XP Home machine as he has fried his power supply. We changed his power supply now he gets a message Missing NTLDR. I know the NTLDR is part of the bootstrap loader setup. I was wondering if a non functioning HDD would cause this error display or is it just a case of a currupt file.
