16-Sep-06 / No Network traffic monitor icon

How can I get the Network traffic monitor icon back in system tray?

After the HD went south, repartitioned/reformated re-installed Win XP Pro SP2
and tried restore some of my old settings. Things back to reasonable state now
except I found RAM went bad too - down from 224 to 97 MB.

Win XP and 3 memory testers report RAM "OK" but show only 95 - 97 MB on the single card. Buy new when can.

All works OK - except a bit slow and hanging some time in email or when multi-
tasking, etc. Mouse-click responses usually slow.

It's not the classic case of icons disappearing from sys tray / notification
area. It's just this one. Sometimes it's there, sometimes not. Of late, it's gone for good.

Where does it come from, anyway? What has to be set up to show it for sure? It's not in right-
click taskbar\properties\Hide...\Customize either.

I used the network wizard couple, 3 times already. There's a small (8-port) hub
downstairs I connect to. That goes to a small 1 or 2-port router to the line.
Internet & Network access OK, as before.

Anyone have this problem before? Is there an alternative way to monitor, w/ min resources?

Appreciate any advice.

Open your network connections, right click on wah one and select the option to show icon when connected...

Windows XP is a bit buggy here and can sometimes not show the icon...
