Missing Icons

When I boot-up I now find that my start-up programme icons are missing from the System Tray. I have checked 'Processes' in windows Task Manager and they see to be running. How can I get the icons back. Please note the 'hide inactive icons' box in Start>Properties>Taskbar is un-ticked.

Thanks, great links, all offering a solution. I have now solved the problem using this tip :

"Go to Start > Run and type:services.msc and OK.
Scroll down your list of Services and find both Universal Plug and Play Device Host and SSDP Discovery Service. Doubleclick on each and under Startup Type, choose Disabled and OK".

This seems to work very well and I now have a full 'suite' of icons for the first time in months.

I am most gratefull to you.
