Missing Device Manager

  oldnavalaviator 11:48 28 Dec 2006

Clicking 'Hardware' brings up a blank page. I have checked for Viruses with 2 separate applications and for RootKits. Also used Registry Mechanic and System Mechanic to no avail.Have checked that P&P is activated as suggested by Microsoft Any other ideas would be most welcome.
My Computer is also very slow to load.

Many thanks for the advice. I had already tracked down the pages you kindly sent me, but I do not have 'contextplus' to delete in the 'add remove' list.Hoping I do not have to reinstal XP, as I have a very large number of avi and mp3 files.

go into Services.msc and stop PnP and then reboot into normal mode. Return to Services.msc and restart PnP. Check Device Manager. If still blank, reboot and try it again.
