Hi

My son has gone off at uni and is looking to find a cheap laptop to use. Can anyone advise me as to what would be the minimum requirements he would need to use on the Uni broadband network?

Provided it's got a slot for Wi-Fi card

Thanks for the advice.
My machine from 1998 wouldn't work - think it was a pentium 2

Reasonable spec, and very reasonable price. And its a Dell. In fact I bought one today click here

Depends on the ISP they use, NTL based ISP's such as Freedom, Virgin and Tesco's offer support for Win98SE and onwards - I would have thought BT based ISP's would also.

Assuming this is a wired and not wireless network then any laptop with a Network port.

Ignore anything about ISPs as it's an internal Uni network they'll be using.
