Minor Boot Problem

Every so often, perhaps once or twice a week. I get to the welcome screen during boot up, then the computer resets itself.

It then boots as normal, with a "Recovered from a Serious Error" screen, which then goes on to tell me it's a driver problem - not a lot of help!

After this I normally find I have to give all my Zone Alarm permissions again and then all is well until the next time.

Anybody any ideas? Obviously it's a start-up programme problem, but which one?

It's more of an inconvenience than anything else, and I really don't want to start uninstalling everything and then reinstalling one at a time for such a minor glitch.

Look in the event log, start menu/run, type

eventvwr.msc

Your ZoneAlarm Service is a bit faulty it appears, try going to START > Right Click "My Computer" > Click Properties > "Advanced" Tab > "Start up and recovery" section > "Settings" button > untick "Automatically Restart" then Apply /OK. Next time it happens instead of rebooting it will show u the error up front. Tell us what it says.

Thanks both.

brundle - tried that, nothing obvious stands out, but I'm not really familiar with event viewer messages.

Andy1991 - done that. Will now sit back and wait.

I'll update if and when

Happened again this morning.

Despite suggested settings (which I have just re-checked just to be sure) it automatically rebooted, with the usual "Serious Error" message.

OK, when the serious error message comes up again click the "Click here" link at the bottom of it that links to more technical details. then tell us all the bits that it says at the top of the new window.
