A quickie.........

Son and family have an old HP Vectra. Probably about 250Mz and 384RAM. running Win98SE

Now on Wannado BB and recently added a webcam.

I'm not very surprised that there is a significant delay when typing, while the webcam is active.

Any general opinion offered? Son is here at the moment and will be going home in about an hour.

All I can suggest is optimising what is running at startup / generally:

start

run

msconfig

and under the startup tab untick anything unnecessary.

Thanks,

A reminder which is good sense anyway, a pity I didn't do that when I was there the other night, helping him to make sense of wannado!

I'll send him a blow-by-blow email.

Gee Whiz the way some people load their computers!

Diodorus Siculus, you should have seen it. Not really the number of things which ran unnecessarily at startup, but the complexity of the arrangments.

As well as msconfig, I ran CCleaner (I'm really beginning to appreciate what that can do).
Piles of temporary internet files and other rubbish

The upshot of a couple of hours spent there while the family were out/at school/at work, is that I have just had an email saying it is much better now - thank you.

350mhz and pentium2 will be more than enough.
