Mild Overclock On Athlon XP2600+

Hi all, I have just been having a little play around with system i.e very mild overclocking of cpu. It's an AMD Athlon XP2600+ running at 2.08ghz at stock settings fsb=166mhz.

As I am very new to this overclocking lark I decided to use a freeware program called clockgen to up the speed a little.

I am currently running cpu at 2.22ghz fsb=177mhz
which is a great improvement over stock making system noticeably faster.

System is very stable temp is ok at 49c max under load.

What I am wondering is if I made the cpu fsb177mhz in the bios while locking agp at 66mhz and pci at 33mhz making these changes permanent, would it have a damaging effect on system or is this ok to do if temp is ok and system stable.

I'm a bit of a bios virgin so any thoughts or help would be most welcome.

Thanks
HG

I like playing around with OC'ing and I'm curious to know what the motherboard is,as with my present board if I up the FSB then the AGP/PCI speeds go up too.

I run my system on an XP2600 CPU,and have it very mildly clocked to XP2700 by lifting the multiplier, then the AGP/PCI remain at defaults.

If your system is cool and stable,I see no reason why not leave it there at FSB177.

Sorry took so long to reply Chegs my system is as follows:-

ASUS A7N8X2.0 DELUXE
ATHLON XP2600+ THOROUGHBRED
512MB PC3200 RAM

Chegs I now have my system running different spec from original post

FSB 200MHZ/ MULTIPLIER 11.5/ AGP LOCKED 66MHZ/ VCORE 1.725
CLOCK SPEED NOW 2.3GHZ
TEMPS BETWEEN 42-55 C STANDARD COOLING
SYSTEM STABLE SO FAR
