Hi folks. Can older versions of .NET framework be uninstalled.I don't really know what they're for but some programs wont run without it.I now have Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 service pack 2,framework 3.0 service pack 2 and framework 3.5 SP1.Thanks.

I don`t think removing any of the .net framework items is a good idea, mainly because they are to some extent incremental and to do with the functionality of several different programs.

In any case the sysetem won`t allow you to remove some of them if they have files in use, and I think the earlier ones are part of the Windows XP OS anyway.

I have recently had a program that had to have an early version of Net Framework installed to work.

I would leave well alone.

I have them all installed. Quite a size overall but of little consequence in the case of a 320GB hard drive.

Leave alone as the others have recommended. I only use a 20Gb partition for my OS & the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET 183Mb folder is minuscule in comparison. G

Okay I should probably leave them there then.My (don't laugh)80gb hardrive hasn't got a lot of space and I'm clearing some stuff I don't need out.

I would agree to leave them. Why not consider a second (slave) drive (if a desktop) for "my documents" etc, they are quite reasonably priced these days. Then you can use the existing drive for system and programmes etc.and the slave for data.

I'm saving my pennies for an external drive just now.
