Microsoft Word will not let me save a document

  TreeBear 22:58 13 Dec 2004

I've been using MS Word without problems for ages but this morning (mid - morning!) it stopped letting me save a file. The disk icon is greyed out and the menu 'File / Save As' path is also greyed out. This is both opening an existing file and upon creating a new one.

No new programs loaded or any other change to config or setup. Other MS Office products seem OK.

Any ideas welcome .........

What sort of document are you trying to save.

just a regular .dot

I'm just opening docs that I have been using for a while and now cannot save them. Same thing if I try to create a new document.

Have you added any microsoft updates.

Try. Start/search and type in,

Delete the file and reboot, it should work now as you probably have a corrupted .dot file.

If that doesn't work bung the office disk in and do a repair....TT

Thanks all.

The delete tip seems to have sorted it - Cheers Djohn.

It was our friend VoG™ who tipped me off on that one some time ago.
