Microsoft Word doesn't startup when icon pressed

  SB23 19:22 07 Mar 2007

I use Word alot, and in the last few days I've had to start it up by going to the MS shortcut bar, as the other shortcuts will not work.
Under "all programs" from the start menu, all the other shortcuts work, including the other MS shortcuts, but not the word one. Another thing I've noticed is that most of the shortcuts appear different than they did a few days ago, but all still work. Rather than a little icon displaying the program, they look like little folders with coloured bits in the middle, and the Word icon isn't a little blue box with a "w" in it, its one of these folder icons.

Can anyone explain why this has happened?

System Restore?

Thanks VoG™, but I was really trying not to have to do it that way, as I have a weeks worth of work on the hd, and not all of it is backed up....yet.

I've already tried TweakUI, and I'm afraid it didn't work. But I don't understand why its only the word shortcut thats been affected?

With regards to system restore, I've had a little cleanup and deleted all but the last restore point, so that idea wouldn't work either.
Shall I give up!

Try running "Detect & Repair" in Help in Word and opt for a new desktop icon.

Try this. In search type Word, when you see the Program "right click and drag" to quick start bar, choose shortcut then delete the old shortcut

PS you can rename the shortcut by right clicking it
