built new pc , running along side old,thought xp
home edition came with word , wrong no, must have been ad on with old pc,question can i copy word program from old pc and copy to new,old pc is about ten years old, but the word program is good for the odd letter document i do,or can it be downloaded of net

Try Jarte, based on WordPad, but with additional benefits. WordPad on its own usually suffices for general word processing.

For the vast majority of home users, Word is way over the top and they only use about two or three per cent of its capabilities.

just been in touch with a mate, he has got disc for microsoft office 2000 premium,but as you say
copy illegal,but he has got pucker disc not copy,
if i use this is all ok

You can use it but your installation will be illegal.

Be sure to go to Office Update click here to fix security issues.
