Why does Microsoft 'Word' take so long to load,
after clicking on icon
My computer has an AMD 2400 PROCEESOR & 1 GIG OF DDR MEMORY.

Possibly a corrupted template.

Do a search for NORMAL.DOT (enable searching for hidden files and folders). Rename it to ABNORMAL.DOT and try starting Word.

or simply delete the file - MS Word will recreate a new one

VoG™, i like your sense of humour! :-)

Yes but if you rename it and it doesn't work you can rename it back and restore your customisations etc...

fair enough, point well made!

Neighbour has Word XP and after he installed Norton Anti virus Word takes about 30 secs to fire up. Doesn't seem to bother him tho'

Don't know the emoticon for a Gallic shrug.

When you save this 45secs, what are going to do with it :o)

Fatuous remark and I deserve all the flak I might get.

Time for a shower as well !

I see what you mean - I have a 400MHz Celeron, yet Word 2000 only takes about three-quarters of a second to fire up.....:-)

It then takes about an hour and a half to compose a short letter.....
