Microsoft Wireless Desktop

Last Sunday I aquired Microsoft Wireless (Keyboard & Mouse/USB) Desktop and installed the latest software. It works fine and I am very pleased about it.

Every 4 weeks or so I run Anti Virus scanner in a safe mode.

I just tried this afternoon to start my computer in a safe mode.

To my surprise I failed to do so as the wireless desktop receiver which is a USB one stop functioning. Obeviously the absence of drivers.

When press F8 to launch safe mode it presents the Boot Menue as usual and stuck on highlighted Normal Start. Updown arrows/Enter key do not operate.

It means that in future if I needed to start the computer in a safe mode for trouble shooting, I am stuck. Will I have to revert to my wired desktop?

The only thing I could do to go the msconfig way and do a diagnostic start. In case of trouble we even cannot do that.

My question (1) is it a drawback of the USB wirless desktops or (2) I am missing some thing here.

Has anybody been in this situation before or I am inventing the wheel here?

Please comment. Thanks.

Have wireless keyboard and mose on a medion, works okm in safe mode.

Ensure BIOS is set for "USB for DOS enabled".
